Trump asks Congress to amend COVID relief bill

United States President Donald Trump refused to sign the roughly $2.3 trillion funding package which includes $900 billion for coronavirus assistance claiming it is "unsuitable" and demanding the bill be amended.

The head of state said legislation forwarded to his desk is different than he anticipated and warned that the next administration will have to deliver the long-awaited pandemic relief in the event the congressional lawmakers refuse to make the necessary alterations.

Trump called for the removal of "wasteful and unnecessary items" and demanded the direct payments to Americans be increased from $600 to $2,000, calling the amount offered in the stimulus "ridiculously low." Congress will now have until next Monday to alter the spending bill being that the current continuing resolution is set to run dry leaving federal agencies without funding.
