Trump asks why he wasn't told Flynn was under investigation

United States President Donald Trump wondered on Friday why he wasn't told that his former National Security adviser Michael Flynn (pictured) was under investigation "long before it was common knowledge."

"It now seems the General Flynn was under investigation long before was common knowledge. It would have been impossible for me to know this but, if that was the case, and with me being one of two people who would become president, why was I not told so that I could make a change?" the president tweeted.

A court filing made public yesterday revealed that Flynn told the office of Special Counsel Robert Mueller that people connected to the Trump administration and Congress sought to influence his cooperation with the investigation into Russian interference in 2016 election. In December 2017, Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with the Russian ambassador to the United States in 2016.
