Trump considers 60-day extension for China tariffs deadline - report

United States President Donald Trump is reportedly thinking about extending the deadline for imposing new tariffs on Chinese goods as the US and Chinese delegation began high-level talks in Beijing, media reported.

Trump is thinking of extending a deadline by 60 days to give negotiators more time to make a trade deal, Bloomberg reported citing people familiar with the matter. The US President indicated earlier he would be willing to consider extending the March 1 deadline if the two countries made progress in trade talks.

US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin arrived in Beijing earlier for a new round of talks with Chinese Vice Premier Liu He.
