Trump: Hong Kong will be treated like rest of China

United States President Donald Trump said on Tuesday due to Beijing deciding to implement the Hong Kong National Security Law, the legislative region will be treated like the rest of China.

The US president revealed he signed the China sanctions bill titled Hong Kong Autonomy Act during the day, which gives the country "powerful new tools" to hold Chinese individuals and entities responsible for their behavior regarding the city.

On top of the legislation, which had previously received Congressional approval, Trump also issued an executive order stripping the region of its preferential treatment. He noted billions of dollars have already been paid to the US through the "massive" tariffs placed on Chinese imports, which are now set to cover the autonomous region as well.
