Trump: Iran is nothing but trouble

United States President Donald Trump said on Friday that Iran is "nothing but trouble" after the Middle Eastern country's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) captured a British tanker.

"We heard one, we heard two," Trump told reporters in the White House Rose Garden about reports of incidents involving United Kingdom ships in the Persian Gulf. "It goes to show you I was right about Iran," he added. However, the US president refused to respond to questions on if and how Washington plans to respond to Tehran's actions. Still, Trump noted the UK has been America's "great ally" and added Washington plans to discuss today's events with London.

Earlier in the day, the IRGC said it seized British-owned tanker Stena Impero, claiming the vessel violated international regulations. Later, media claimed Tehran likely detained the Mesdar, another UK tanker, but Iran has not confirmed those reports. Tehran's actions comes on the same day the UK decided to prolong the detention of an Iranian tanker captured earlier this month by 30 days.
