Trump: Meeting with Mueller not ruled out

United States President Donald Trump said on Friday that he hasn't ruled out meeting with Special Counsel Robert Mueller as part of the investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential election.

Speaking to reporters as he was departing for Paris for the centennial of the end of the First World War, Trump told reporters he hasn't spoken with Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker about the Russia probe before appointing him to replace outgoing AG Jeff Sessions. He added that Whitaker is a "highly respected man."

On Thursday, it was reported Mueller and his team began writing their final report on the investigation into Russian meddling, one day after Sessions resigned.
