Trump: No deadline for additional tariffs against China

United States President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that he and his administration do not have a deadline for imposing additional tariffs on Chinese imports. During a press conference, Trump said he will meet Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping at the G20 summit scheduled for the end of June and that he hopes a deal could be reached during their talks.

"They have to make a deal, as a lot of companies are leaving China [due to tariffs]," Trump concluded, adding that a deal with Mexico wouldn't be reached if the punitive levies against its imports haven't been imposed.

Trump stated that Mexico "respects" the US again, that a temporary deal was reached after two decades of talks, but also implied that additional measures against Mexico may be decided upon in the next 45 days.
