Trump seeks China sells assets seen as security threat

Former United States President Donald Trump argued on Saturday that he would force China to sell all of its holdings in the US that could endanger the country's national security. The former president's remarks came as Congress continued discussions on banning the Chinese social media platform TikTok nationwide citing security risks related to data collection and political influence.

"Many countries ripped us off, but no one ripped us off like China," Trump also claimed as he kicked off his 2024 campaign in New Hampshire and South Carolina, reminding about his administration's trade deal with China in 2020 that committed Beijing to purchase $200 billion of additional US exports by the end of 2021.
