Trump to replace Wilbur Ross by year's end

United States President Donald Trump wants to replace Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross (pictured left) by the end of the year, CNBC reported on Friday, citing sources familiar with the matter. The president plans to appoint Linda McMahon, currently serving as the head of the Small Business Administration, to replace Ross, the report said. Neither the White House, nor the Small Business Administration confirmed the reports.

"There is no indication that Secretary Ross will be gone any time soon. He's posted significant wins for the president's trade agenda and that shows," an official in Trump administration commented. Despite the comments, there have been rumors that the president wanted to replace Ross for a while, but he kept him as the commerce secretary supported his trade policies, especially when it comes to the ongoing trade war with China.

Ross marks the latest US government departure after Jeff Sessions stepped down as attorney general on Wednesday. Sessions got temporarily replaced by his Chief of Staff Matthew Whitaker.
