Turkey calls for thorough probe of tanker attacks - FM

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated on Friday that his country believes a thorough investigation needs to be conducted on yesterday's attacks on two tankers in the Gulf of Oman, Russian media reported. According to the official, Ankara is not trying to protect anyone, but its stance is that it is "wrong" to accuse someone of the incident without any substantial proof.

"We are disturbed by the events in the Gulf of Oman. We do not protect anyone, we consider it wrong that after a few hours someone was found guilty. It is necessary to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident," stressed Cavusoglu.

Earlier, the United States accused Iran of being behind the attacks, releasing a video allegedly taken after the attack on two oil tankers, which supposedly shows a boat belonging to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) removing an unexploded limpet mine from one of the tankers. However, Tehran categorically rejected the accusation.
