Turkey could buy Su-35, Su-37, if US deal falls through

Turkey's Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) President Ismail Demir announced in an interview with NTV on Monday that Ankara could consider buying Sukhoi Su-37 (pictured) and Sukhoi Su-35 jets from Russia if its F16 procurement agreement with the United States comes to nothing.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan previously hinted that the US could sell F-16 fighter jets to Turkey as a means to compensate Ankara for the removal from the F-35 program.

Washington decided not to sell F-35 multirole fighters to Turkey after the country unveiled its missile defense systems deal with Russia.
