Turkey could consider Finland's NATO bid - Erdogan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a speech broadcast by the TRT on Sunday said that Ankara could consider Finland's NATO ascension.
The Turkish leader advised the country to steer from making moves that have cost Sweden Turkish support. "If necessary, we can send a different message about Finland, if it does not repeat the same mistakes," he noted, referring to an incident that took place in Stockholm last week when the country's far-right politician burned a Quran.
Finland and Sweden applied to join NATO last year, ending decades of neutrality and abandoning their respective non-aligned status. They need support from all 30 members in order to join the Alliance.
