Turkish inflation rises to 78.62% in June, highest since 1998

Consumer prices in Turkey rose 78.62% year on year in June, slightly above the forecast and the highest level since 1998, the Turkish Statistical Institute informed on Monday.

The groups that made the most significant changes in the index were transportation, increasing by 123.37%, food, non-alcoholic beverages, up by 93.93%, and furniture and household equipment, rising by 81.14%.

On a monthly basis, the figure went up by 4.95%, below the forecast but well above the previous 2.98%.
