Tusk: Brexit deal may still come in December despite setback

European Council President Donald Tusk said on Monday that it is still possible the European Union and the United Kingdom will reach an agreement on Brexit despite UK Prime Minister Theresa May and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker failing to complete the deal earlier today.

"I was ready to present draft EU27 guidelines tomorrow for #Brexit talks on transition and future. But UK and Commission asked for more time. It is now getting very tight but agreement at December #EUCO is still possible," Tusk tweeted.

Earlier, May and Juncker announced they didn't manage to reach a deal on the UK's departure from the bloc today, but expressed confidence an agreement will come before the end of this week. The European Council (EUCO) is set to meet on December 14-15 to discuss several issues including Brexit negotiations.
