Uber to give Waymo 0.34% share in settlement

Uber Technologies Inc.'s chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi apologized to Alphabet Inc.'s Waymo Llc in the final step to resolve a legal dispute, which will bring the plaintiff 0.34% in equity of the transportation system operator, domestic media reported on Friday. The selfdriving unit of Google's parent has sued the ride-hailing firm over information from 14,000 files that were allegedly copied by Anthony Lewandowski when he left the search giant. Waymo has claimed the engineer stole intellectual property, using it in the design of Fuji lidar systems.

The stake is worth $245 million, according to the latest data, valuing Uber at $72 billion. The company doesn't believe the disputed files were used after Lewandowski's startup Otto was acquired, Khosrowshahi said but added it would make sure the solutions are independently developed. The lawsuit was part of the turmoil that led to the departure of previous CEO Travis Kalanick.
