UK annual house price growth at 2.1% in November

House prices in the United Kingdom increased by 1% in November compared to the previous month to reach an average price of £234,625, according to Halifax's monthly House Price Index report published on Friday.

On an annual basis, housing prices in November rose by 2.1% compared to the same month in 2018. Compared to the previous quarter, house prices in the UK rose by 0.2% in the quarter to November.

"Average house prices rebounded somewhat in November, with annual growth of 2.1% being driven by the biggest monthly rise since February, following two months of modest falls," Halifax's managing director Russell Galley stated. "Prices are now up by £3,904 since the start of the year. While a degree of uncertainty remains evident, it’s also clear that buyers and sellers are responding to factors such as improved mortgage affordability and the limited supply of available properties," he added.
