UK calls for Navalny's release amid declining health reports

The United Kingdom called on Russia to release Alexey Navalny on Thursday over multiple reports of his deteriorating health.

UK Ambassador to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Neil Bush stated that the country is "deeply concerned" by Navalny's treatment in prison and stated that it calls for his "immediate and unconditional release." He further added that "measures put in place by the Russian authorities to protect Mr. Navalny could not provide sufficient safeguards for his life and health," calling for access to be given to "medical professionals that he [Navalny] trusts without delay."

Earlier this week, the United States also called for an independent medical doctor to be provided for Navalny, after saying that if the opposition leader dies there would be consequences. Pro-Navalny protests have been organized in Russia, as the Kremlin declined to comment on Navalny's health.
