UK calls French fisheries actions 'disproportionate'

United Kingdom's Environment Secretary George Eustice said on Thursday that French actions and comments on the fisheries dispute are "disappointing and disproportionate and not what we'd expect from a close ally and partner." Earlier, France detained a British fishing vessel and said it is considering additional measures in light of the UK's perceived disregard for Brexit agreements.

Eustice said any further French measures "will be met with an appropriate and calibrated response." He stressed the UK has granted 98% of fishing license applications from vessels from the European Union. "All of our decisions have been fully in line with this commitment," he asserted.
