UK court sets Assange's extradition hearing for February 2020

United Kingdom's Westminster Magistrates Court said on Friday that the five-day extradition hearing for Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is planned to take place on February 25 next year. Home Secretary Sajid Javid signed the extradition request from the United States, where Assange was indicted on 18 counts under the Espionage Act, including computer hacking conspiracy charges.

The founder of Wikileaks told the court: "175 years of my life is effectively at stake."

Assange is currently serving a 50-week sentence in London’s Belmarsh prison, after he was convicted of skipping bail after Swedish authorities sought his extradition for rape allegations, which were later dropped.
