UK defense secretary visits Ukraine
British Defense Minister Grant Shapps (pictured) traveled to Kiev on Thursday and met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to a statement issued by the presidential office, Zelensky thanked the United Kingdom for its "significant" military, financial and humanitarian aid.
Zelensky also "praised the level of cooperation with the United Kingdom in the defense sector, which allows the Ukrainian army to significantly expand its capabilities on the battlefield, in particular by means of long-range weapons." The two discussed means to boost Ukraine's air defense ahead of the winter season. This is Shapps' first visit to Ukraine since he succeeded Ben Wallace as defense secretary.
