UK, EU near Northern Ireland Brexit deal

The European Union approved a proposal that would do away with the necessity for routine inspections of goods going to Northern Ireland, The Times reported.

The agreement would end post-Brexit squabbling over the region, which ensued once the United Kingdom decided to leave the EU. According to The Times, the bloc has now acknowledged that only if a case was referred by the Northern Irish courts could the European Court of Justice rule on matters pertaining to the province.

Brussels had previously claimed that the European Commission should have the option of filing complaints directly with the said court.
