UK GDP grows 0.4% in February

The United Kingdom gross domestic product (GDP) rose 0.4% in February, according to a monthly estimate released by the country's Office for National Statistics on Tuesday. The economic growth was smaller than analysts had expected.

According to the report, the services sector grew 0.2%, but consumer-facing services still remained "well below" pre-pandemic levels from February 2020. Production climbed 1% and the construction sector output rose by 1.6%. Manufacturing was up 1.3%.

Compared to February 2020, UK's GDP fell 7.8% in the same month this year.

Meanwhile, January's GDP figure was revised upwards to show a contraction of 2.2%.
