UK hopes for de-escalation of tensions in Iran

United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab expressed concern on Sunday about the situation in Iran following the killing of top nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh and noted that civilians should not be targeted.

"We are concerned about the situation in Iran and the wider region we do want to see a de-escalation of tensions," Raab told Sky News' Sophy Ridge. "We’re still waiting to see the full facts to address the full facts of what’s happened in Iran but I would say that we stick to the rule of international humanitarian law which is very clear against targeting civilians," he added.

Earlier, Iranian officials accused Israel of likely being behind the attack in which Fakhrizadeh was killed and vowed to punish those responsible for his death.
