UK industrial production accelerates in October

Industrial output in the United Kingdom rose by 0.1% in October compared to the month before, the country's Office for National Statistics said in a release on Tuesday. Largest upward contributions were provided by electricity and gas, with a rise of 2.4%, followed by manufacturing which increased by 0.2%.

In the three month period, industrial production decreased by 0.7%, led by downward contributions of 4.5% in the pharmaceutical industry and 1.9% in machinery and equipment. Chemicals and chemical products also followed suit, dropping 2.3%

Year-over-year, the production output was 1.5% lower. The most considerable shrinking was observed in manufacturing, down 1.5% on an annual basis, followed by a drop in mining and quarrying, and electricity and gas, down 6.4% and 0.7%, respectively.
