UK inflation down to 2% in July

The yearly inflation in the United Kingdom amounted to 2% in July, coming in lower than June's figure, which marked the highest consumer prices hike since August 2018, and below the analysts expectations, the Office for National Statistics unveiled on Wednesday. On a monthly basis, consumer prices were unchanged.

The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rose by 2.1% on a yearly basis, with transport contributing the most to the hike. The CPIH figure was unaltered month on month.

At the same time, the Producer Price Output Index grew 4.9% annually, while the input indicator jumped 9.9% in 12 months to July.
