UK inflation up to 0.5% in September

The Consumer Price Index in the United Kingdom rose by 0.5% in August compared to the same period last year, performing slightly below expectations, the Office for National Statistics revealed on Wednesday.

Including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) 12-month inflation rate was 0.7%, up from 0.5% reported the previous month.

The largest contribution came from transport costs and the hospitality sector, which increased by 0.23% and 0.21%, respectively, since August.
