UK inflation up to 0.7% in October

The Consumer Price Index in the United Kingdom rose 0.7% on an annual basis in October, 0.2 points above expected, the Office for National Statistics reported on Wednesday.

Including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) 12-month inflation rate landed at 0.9%, increasing from 0.7% recorded in September. Recreation and culture contributed the most to the upward trend with 0.26 percentage points.

Meanwhile, clothing, food, and furniture, furnishings and carpets made the largest upward contributions to the change from September to October.
