UK retail sales climb 3.6% in July

The volume of goods purchased in retail sales in the United Kingdom in July grew 3.6% compared to the previous month, beating estimates, the Office for National Statistics said on Friday. The quantity of UK retail sales was 3% higher in July compared to pre-COVID-19 levels from February.

Non-food retailers marked a monthly jump of 10% in July, while fuel sales in the country surged 26.2% from June's levels. However, both figures remained lower compared to February's figures.

Online sales fell 7% month-over-month as amid the country's reopening efforts but it remained 50.4% above pre-pandemic levels.
