UK: Russia has no moral right to attend G20

A spokesperson for the United Kingdom said on Friday that Russia "has no moral right" to attend the G20 summit, which will be held in Indonesia in November, while it continues its invasion of Ukraine. The statement echoed UK prime minister candidate Rishi Sunak's suggestion to bar Russian President Vladimir Putin from attending the gathering.

"Our G20 partners and allies have a collective responsibility to call Putin's abhorrent behavior out. Sitting round a table with him isn't good enough when he is responsible for children being killed in their beds as they sleep," a spokesperson for Sunak said earlier today.

Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to go to Bali, although the two might meet in September, ahead of the Bali summit.
