UK to lift quarantine rule for 75 countries - report

The United Kingdom government will provide exemptions from its 14-day quarantine rule for arrivals from 75 countries, The Telegraph reported on Thursday.

According to the report, the government plans to ease the measures in order to allow Britons to go on holiday without having to self-isolate on return. Countries included on the first exemption list include all European Union members, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Turkey.

The UK government introduced the mandatory quarantine for all arrivals in the country from June 8 in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The measures received backlash from the aviation industry which was severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
