UK to offer COVID vaccine to all adults in June - report

The United Kingdom will make all people over the age of 18 eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine in June ahead of schedule, reported the Telegraph on Wednesday citing internal plans by the National Health Service (NHS) managers.

Adults in their early twenties could reportedly be offered a jab in the first half of June, with plans for all adults to be included in the vaccination program within five weeks. The official UK government schedule for over-18s to become vaccine-eligible is the end of July. According to the outlet, the NHS is aiming to speed up the timeline due to the concern regarding the coronavirus variant first discovered in India.

Last week, fears about the India strain spreading in the UK led the British authorities to provide the vaccines to people over 18 years old in viral hotspots.
