UK trade deficit down to £6.3B in quarter to February

The United Kingdom's total trade deficit, excluding non-monetary gold and other precious metals, contracted by £2.1 billion in the three months ending with February 2021 to stand at £6.3 billion, the Office for National Statistics said in a report published on Tuesday.

Imports dropped by £5.7 billion, or 3.8%, while exports declined £3.6 billion, or 2.5%, the report noted. The goods trade deficit decreased by £2.1 billion and the services trade surplus rose by £0.1 billion, the report noted.

Year-on-year, the total trade deficit decreased by £3.1 billion in the 12 months ending with March.
