UK trade deficit widens by £1 billion in May MoM

UK's trade deficit in goods and services widened by £1 billion to £3.1 billion in from April to May, the Office for National Statistics said in its report on Friday.

The total UK trade deficit came in at £8.9 billion in the three months ending May, showing a rise of £2 billion from the three months ending February 2017. The figure is mostly due to a higher rise in imports than the exports of goods such as transport equipment (cars, aircraft and ships), oil and electrical machinery from non-EU countries.
