UK will not change negotiating position - PM

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Monday that his government will not change its negotiating position in trade deal talks with the European Union. However, he stated that the United Kingdom "remains committed" to reaching a free trade agreement with the EU "as soon as possible."

The prime minister confirmed that differences between the two sides still remain on the issues of fisheries and the level playing field. Earlier today, Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney expressed hope that a deal can be reached in spite of the approaching end-of-year deadline, but warned that it could also fall apart because of disagreement on fishing rights.
