Ukraine conducts emergency drill near nuclear plant

Ukraine performed an emergency drill near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant on Wednesday, after the Russian occupation of the spot, and the exercises are expected to continue in the following days, according to Ukrainian authorities.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan tomorrow to talk about a potential demilitarized zone in order to prevent a nuclear incident.

Earlier today, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg stated that the Russian occupation of Zaporizhzhia poses a "serious threat," due to an increased risk of an accident. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova invited the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to visit the power plant, as she does not see "what is stopping them."
