UK's Hammond kicks off search for BoE's next governor

British Chancellor Philip Hammond announced on Wednesday that a search for the next governor of the Bank of England is officially launched as the central bank's current chief Mark Carney is set to finish his term in January next year. Hammond specified that a series of interviews for the position will be conducted this summer, with the goal of finding a replacement for Carney at some point in autumn this year.

Potential candidates will have six weeks to apply for the job with an annual salary of £480,000, the same as six years ago when Carney got appointed. "Potential candidates will have substantial experience of working at the most senior level in a major bank or other financial institution or of working in, or involvement with, central banking," the UK Treasury's advert said.
