UN passes resolution to block arms flow into Myanmar

The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on Friday which calls for all member states to block the flow of arms into Myanmar in an attempt to settle the crisis prompted by the military coup.

"The people of Myanmar deserve the full and unreserved support of the General Assembly," Lichtenstein representative noted in the introduction of the resolution, which hasn't received votes from neither China nor Russia.

Myanmar military coup took place on February 1 when the Tatmadaw (the country's military) proclaimed a year-long state of emergency and took full power while declaring the results of the last year's general elections invalid. Protests across the country followed the coup, with more than 700 people killed by military or police forces.
