UN's Guterres 'dismayed' by rising civilian casualties in Gaza

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres (pictured) is "dismayed" by the "increasing number of civilian casualties" caused by Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, his spokesman Stephane Dujarric stated.

Dujarric added that the UN chief is also "deeply disturbed by the destruction by an Israeli airstrike today of a high-rise building in Gaza City that housed the offices of several international media organizations."

Earlier in the day, Israel hit a building in which offices of media outlets including The Associated Press and Al Jazeera are located. The administration of United States President Joe Biden, which has insisted that Israel has a right to defend itself and strike Gaza, noted it informed the country that "ensuring the safety and security of journalists and independent media is a paramount responsibility."
