Union hints tentative deal with GM possible

The United Auto Workers (UAW) said that it could reach a tentative deal with General Motors and put an end to the workers' strike if the carmaker accepts the counterproposal the UAW submitted.

"We counterproposed to the Company’s last offer which included all of your outstanding proposals that are all at the main table and unsettled," UAW Vice President Terry Dittes stated. "With this latest comprehensive proposal, if GM accepts and agrees to this group of proposals, we will have a Tentative Agreement," he added. GM noted it was in the process of reviewing the offer.

In September, tens of thousands of GM workers went on strike after failing to agree on a new four-year labor contract with the automaker. Union representatives reportedly met with GM CEO Mary Barra earlier in the week in an attempt to end the strike.
