United Airline's CFO Andrew Levy resigns

After serving as the Chief Financial Officer of United Airlines for less than two years, Andrew Levy decided to leave the company. His post is temporarily filled with Gerry Laderman, who is the airline's treasurer, until a permanent replacement is found.

"My decision to resign was reached after a great deal of thought during the past few months...I have some interesting opportunities and now is the right time for me to move forward," Levy said in an email sent to some employees, which CNBC was privy to.

Levy previously worked as an executive for Allegiant Air, a low-cost airline based in Las Vegas, before getting hired by United in August 2016.
