United Airlines orders 110 new Boeing, Airbus jets
United Airlines revealed on Tuesday that it will buy 110 new Boeing and Airbus jets, securing aircraft supplies for the next decade.
In particular, the company will buy 50 additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 60 Airbus A321neos. Previously, the airline ordered 100 Dreamliners and 120 narrow-body Airbus 321. Deliveries of the ordered airplanes are expected to begin in 2028.
United Airlines' chief commercial officer, Andrew Nocella, told reporters that the company would not order the aircraft so far in advance in different circumstances. "Production lines, which are now regularly plagued by supply-chain disruptions and delivery delays, are also increasingly sold out for the entire decade," he noted.
