United's Q3 EPS climbs to $1.44

United Airlines Holdings Inc. reported on Tuesday that its diluted earnings per share came in at $1.44 in the third quarter of the fiscal year. This presents a marked increase from last year's loss per share of $6.33.

For the same period, the company's total operating revenue jumped 211% year-over-year climbing to $7.75 billion. Additionally, United saw both its operating and net income increasing from last year's losses to reach $1.04 billion and $473 million respectively.

United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby commented on the report: "The recovery was delayed by the Delta variant, but the United team remains focused on our long-term vision – and not getting sidetracked by near-term volatility – meaning we're solidly on track to achieve the targets we set for 2022."

United's shares were up 2.01% in the after-hours trading session following the release of the report.
