US-backed drone strike in Afghanistan kills 30

Afghan security forces drone attack, supported by United States forces, left heavy casualties in Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday night, provincial officials said to local media on Thursday.

Local farmers were the accidental victims in Wazir Tangi area of the district, in an airstrike on a supposed ISIS terrorists' hideout. "At least 25 dead bodies have been taken to a nearby hospital so far," according to Khogyani district's police chief Fawad Khan, adding that "all of the victims were civilians". Nangarhar provincial council member, Ajmal Omar, stated that the drone attacks killed 30 people and wounded 40 others, labeling all victims as civilians.

The province borders with Pakistan, and it had been used as a center of operation for ISIS in this area. Earlier today, twenty people were killed in a truck bomb attack in southeastern Afghanistan.
