US business inventories drop 0.2% in November

Inventories in the manufacturing and trade sectors in the United States decreased by 0.2% in November compared to October to reach $2.04 trillion, according to the report by the US Census Bureau released on Thursday. The figure came in 2.8% higher year-on-year.

The combined value of distributive trade sales and manufacturers’ shipments for November, adjusted for seasonal and trading-day differences was estimated at $1.5 trillion, up 0.7% monthly and 1% annually.

The total business inventories and sales ratio based on seasonally adjusted data at the end of November was 1.39, which compared to the November 2018 ratio that was 1.37.
