US business inventories up 0.6% in August

United States inventories in the manufacturing and trade sectors climbed by 0.06% on a monthly basis in August, landing at $2.08 trillion, the country's Census Bureau said in a press release on Friday.

The combined value of distributive trade sales and manufacturers’ shipments for August, was estimated at $1,7 trillion, down 0.1% from July 2021, but up 15.3% from August 2020.

The total business inventories/sales ratio at the end of August was 1.26, down from the August 2020 ratio at 1.35, but slightly higher compared to the July 2021 value of 1.25.
