US calls Putin's nuclear comments 'irresponsible'

The United States Department of State called on Wednesday Russian President Vladimir Putin's comments about the possibility of a nuclear war "absolutely irresponsible."

State Department spokesperson Ned Price criticized Putin for his "loose talk" on nuclear weapons.

Earlier, Putin warned that the possibility of a nuclear war is "growing" but insisted Russia will not start such a war.
