US-Canada border to stay closed until August 21 - report

The United States-Canada border is set to remain closed to non-essential travel trough to Aug 21, the Canadian Globe and Mail newspaper reported citing sources familiar with the details of the bilateral border talks.

According to the media outlet, the decision comes amid concerns over infections surging in the US as of late, which Prime Minister Justin Trudeau previously said will likely lead to another extension of the border closures, noting he understands the "complex" situation the country is facing, but that he will continue to "keep Canadians safe."

The month-long restrictions were imposed back in March and were, since, extended three times, allowing only essential workers and temporary foreign workers to cross the border into Canada.
