The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) urged the public on Monday against traveling to France, Jordan, Portugal, and Tanzania amid fears concerning the Omicron strain of COVID-19.

The country previously imposed restrictions on arrivals from South Africa, where the variant was first detected, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.

Earlier this month, France reported the highest number of new infections registered daily since early April.
