US CDC blasts American Airlines for selling full flights

United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Dr. Robert Redfield (pictured) expressed "substantial disappointment" with the decision of American Airlines to book planes at full capacity amid a new surge in COVID-19 cases across the US.

"We don't think it's the right message," Redfield said at a Senate Health Committee hearing on Tuesday, adding that a number of other airlines decided to keep the middle seat open.

Last week, American Airlines announced it will no longer limit the number of sold seats on its flights from July 1.
