US, China to continue talks in Washington

After a round was held in Beijing, bilateral negotiations between the United States and China will resume in Washington, the White House said on Friday. The two sides "continued to make progress during candid and constructive discussions" and they will meet next week for more talks, according to the statement.

The US said the negotiators have focused on "important next steps." Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin (pictured left) led the delegation which traveled to Beijing. Their counterpart was China's Vice Premier Liu He, who will be the lead negotiator in the following meetings, the announcement adds.
